You've been a member for a while so I thought I would check in to see how it's going. Have the How-Tos been helpful or left you with questions? Most of us have questions after all that information!

I want to help! Click my name, send me a private message or ask in the comment section of my page. Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.

PS To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

W, you are all set as a confirmed member of WikiTree now. I hope you discover as much about your family as I have about mine over the last several years.

At Wikitree we use our own names on our profiles, if you'd like to "anonymize" your name, you can use Anonymous or an initial for either your first or last name, but preferably not both, please. If your "alias" is truly a nickname, you can put that in the Preferred Name field.

You can see how your profile will be displayed at each privacy level by clicking on the tab for "Profile (public view)".

After choosing your setting, you have several additional options to maintain privacy on WikiTree. You can use "Anonymous," an initial, or a nickname as your preferred name. Alternatively, although not recommended, you could also use "Anonymous" or an initial for your surname.

Hello, It's best not to anonymise your surname if you are hoping to get on trusted lists and share family tree info with distant cousins, etc. It's also easier to keep your gender private by anonymising your first name.
