Biography

Rebecca Pabodie is the daughter of William Pabodie (1664 - 1744) and Judith Tilden Pabodie (1670 - 1714)

Rebecca married the Reverend Joseph Fish, Pastor of the Church of Christ in Stonington.

Children of Rebecca and Joseph are:

  • Mary Fish (Noyes/Siliman/Dickinson) (1735 - 1818), married three times and the mother of four children and five step-children
  • Rebecca Fish (1738 - 1766) married Benjamin Douglas (1739 - 1775)
  • Joseph Fish, Jr. born and died in 1742, infant son, aged three months.

Note from "Ye OLD BURYING GROUND IN FAIRFIELD, CONN." by Mrs. Kate Perry:

"Mrs. Fish... was Rebecca Pabodie of Duxbury, Mass., and a great grand daughter of John Alden of the May Flower. After the death of her husband, Re. Joseph Fish, who died in Stonington, in 1781, for fifty years a pastor of the second church in that place, she removed to Fairfield, where she resided with her daughter, Mrs. Gen. Gold S. Silliman, till her death. A monument in Stonington commemorates the Rev. Joseph Fish, his wife and three daughters."

A photograph of the monument may be seen on her Find A Grave memorial here: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/9019135/rebecca-fish/photo#view-photo=54400665
