Biography

William Pace Sr was a soldier in George Washington's Commander in Chief's Guard (also known as the Life Guards) for 6 years. We have Wm. Sr.'s records, bounty land warrant, etc.

Anyway the land deed is the evidence that Wm, Jr. was the son of Sgt Wm Pace (received a promotion just before he was mustered out of Continental Army in 1783 and received warrant for 200 acres for his 6 years of service as a member of Washington's guard).

Wm. Pace, Jr.moved to Jackson Co., Alabama about 1840. Another deed transfer in 1844 to Elizabeth Wininger Pace of Jackson Co., AL establishes that Wm., Jr. was married to Elizabeth daughter of David Wininger.

This information is taken from the book _Shelton, Wininger, and Pace Families_ by Harold Casey and Robert Casey, published 1988, lst and only printing.

More info from the book _Shelton, Wininger, and Pace Families_ by Harold Casey and Robert Casey, published 1988, lst and only printing:

1840 to 1870 censuses show that William, Jr. and Elizabeth Pace were living in Jackson County, Alabama.

The children of William and Elizabeth Pace are documented in the estate papers/inventory (1880) of William Pace, Jr. probated in Jackson Co., AL:

Eliza Martha Mary David Catherine Jackson Edward Susan Solomon Sarah E. Malinda Joseph B. (Benton) Lucinda

The book mentioned above, gives more info on each of the children who lived to adulthood.

The estate papers/inventory shows that William Pace, Jr. died in Jackson Co., AL.

There is a picture of a tombstone that possibly marks the resting place of William Pace, Jr. at the Pace Cemetery at Boxes Cove, Jackson Co., AL.

He passed away in 1878. [1]

Research Notes

Birth 1795 is a guess, based on 1820 birth of daughter.

Pace-674 and Pace-3 appear to represent the same person because: Similar death details. Dates of birth are estimated. Biography on Pace-3 states there was a son named David. Thanks for checking if these are the same person.

there seems to be a delink from John H Pace to Wm Pace (Pace-9) down to Wm Pace Jr (Pace-3). when I link up from ancestor Catherine Pace Hall-Shelton its fine, but when linking down, path lands here on Pace-674.

Perhaps Pace-674 and Pace -3 are same person
