Biography

William was born on June 9, 1920 in Boise, Idaho to William Thomas Padgett and Elizabeth (Turner) Padgett.[1] His father was from Alabama and mother from Tennessee.[2,3] He had one sister.[2,3] He grew up in Bend, Oregon; his father worked in a lumber mill.[2,3] At age 20, he married Marjorie Ellen Shafer in Boise, Idaho.[4, 5] Both William and Marjorie were living in Bend, Oregon when they married.[4] When William enlisted in the army in 1942, he listed his occupation as a post office clerk.[6] Early in 1945, William divorced Marjorie[7] and married Zelna Thorpe Stone.[8] Their son William Jr. was born in Oregon in 1946. A second son was born in 1952.

In 1964 William married Doris Ethel Martin; their marriage lasted two years.[9, 10] William's fourth marriage was to Janette Elaine Stevens.

William passed away in 1992 in Bend, Oregon.[1]
