Plaistow, New Hampshire was originally part of Haverhill, Massachusetts. King George II resolved a longstanding border dispute between the colony of Massachusetts and the heirs of New Hampshire's founder John Mason. Under this settlement, much of the disputed territory was given to New Hampshire. Peter Dow and his family were on the north of the line, so they became residents of Plaistow, New Hampshire in 1741, without moving from Haverhill, Massachusetts. [10]
There is no record of Susannah Dow's death or burial, but it was after 1790, as she and Peter are listed in the 1790 census for Plaistow, Rockingham, New Hampshire. [11]
