Biography

Axel Heath Page, son of Joseph Page, was born 3 Apr 1785 in Virginia.[1] His mother's name is not known. He may have been born in Amherst County, Virginia, as a Joseph Page was taxed there in the 1780s through 1795.[2] One Joseph Page appears in the Caroline County, Virginia, tax lists in 1798-1803.

Axelheath married 12 Apr 1807 in Amherst County, Virginia, to Sarah T. "Sally" Innes. They were the parents of the following children:

  1. Marble Watts Page, born about 1809, married 22 Dec 1836 to Nancy Johnson
  2. John Burton Page, born about 1810
  3. Axel Heath Page, born about 1811, died 1850; married 14 Mar 1831 to Sally, the widow of Robert Richey
  4. Joseph Henry Page, born 16 Apr 1813, died 8 May 1893; married 7 Jan 1836 to Elizabeth M Couts
  5. Richard Fountain Page, born about 1815, died 14 May 1852; married 17 Jan 1834 to Margaret Richey
  6. Granville R Page, born Jan 1817, died 12 Feb 1894; married first to Lucinda Johnson, married second 23 Jul 1835 to Mary A Ridge

In 1805, Axelheath was granted 200 acres by the State of Kentucky. The tract was on Parkers Fork of Gasper River in Warren County. He was granted other tracts in 1809 and 1818. He apparently left Virginia by 1809, as he appears on the 1810 census as "Alex" Page, and on the 1820 census. He was taxed on land from 1811 through 1824. In 1827 he sold land in Warren County to Francis A Burge, and moved to Lafayette County, Missouri.

He died 20 Aug 1840 in Lafayette County, Missouri.
