Poindexter Payne was born just as the new nation of America was fighting for it's freedom. He is believed to be the sixth son of Thomas Payne and Yanake Ayers.
In the 1800s, he is paying taxing and on the census for Franklin Georgia.[1]
In 1811, there is a deed from Thomas Payne and wife, Yanaca to Poyndexter Payne and wife Ann to David Slone in Franklin Co, Georgia.[2] The deed shows the family was selling their Georgia property in preparation for a move to Tennessee.
With the 1820 Census, the family is living in Franklin Co, Tenn with his family.[3]

In 1829, there is a deed to the "Heirs of Poyndexter Payne", where they are selling their inheritance for $200.[4] Obviously he died before that date.
No burial record was found.
Poindexter was born about 1775. He passed away about 1825.
