Biography

Claiborne Paine was involved in the westward expansion of the USA. See Trails and Wagon Trains.

Claiborne Paine was born about 1815, probably in Mississippi.[1]

He married Miriam Sumner; they had four or five children, the youngest two Jasper and Newton, twins.

Claiborne died 4 August 1843 on the way to Oregon and was buried in the Sweetwater Canyon.[2][3][4][5]
