Moses was born in 1824 in Kentucky. He was the son of John Paine and Sarah Renfro. The 1850 U.S. Census Moses was 25 living with his 60 year old mother in Township 3 N R 5 W, Madison, Illinois, USA Family Number: 163. He passed away in 1853 and buried at Old Nebo Cemetery, Greenville, Bond County, Illinois, USA. The headstone states that he is a veteran of the Mexican War Private Co D2 ILL REGT
