Biography

John Paine lived from about 1781 to 1869. He was born in Jersey, Channel Islands, and died 15 Apr 1869, in Rocky Harbour, Bonne Bay, District of St. Barbe, Newfoundland where he was buried. His tombstone is inscribed: John Paine, a native of Jersey who|died 15 Apr 1869, aged 88 years[1]. He and his wife Sarah are the first recorded settlers in Rocky Harbour (in 1809).

He married Sarah (Singleton? Cross?), b. abt 1780, in Suffolk, England, d. 22 Nov 1867, Rocky Harbour, Bonne Bay, District of St. Barbe, Newfoundland. They married 13 Sep 1809, in St John's, Newfoundland.

They had:
