Biography

It is presumed she was the Mary Painter who was baptised on 28 Sep 1780 at Hannington, Wiltshire, daughter of Edward and Jane.[1]

Two other siblings. Joseph and Stephen, were baptised on the same day.[2] It is assumed that the three children were of different ages when baptised.

Mary Painter of Hannington, spinster, married William Pound of Hannington, bachelor, by Licence at Hannington, Wiltshire on 02 June 1795, in the presence of William Mustoe and Mary Mustoe.[3] The Marriage Licence Bond for William Pound, Miller of Hannington, bachelor, and Mary Painter of Hannington, spinster was dated '04 Jan 1795'. The Bondsman was Thomas Humphrys of Highworth, Shoemaker.[4]

William Pound died in 1798 having made his will on 06 Feb 1795. Mary [Painter] and her son John Painter were the principal beneficiaries.[6]

A possible second marriage for Mary.

Charles Francis (widower) of Broad Blunsdon married Mary Pound (widow) of Broad Blunsdon by Banns on 11 Sep 1804 at Broad Blunsdon, Wiltshire[8].

Charles Francis of Broad Blunsdon, bachelor, had married Mary Dowers of Broad Blunsdon, spinster, by Banns on 10 Oct 1797 at Broad Blunsdon, Wiltshire.[8]
