Biography

A biographical sketch of David Painter taken from info in Hazzard's History, Henry Co., IN.

David T. Painter was born April 15, 1831, in Rockingham Co., VA, the third son of Absalom and Sarah Jane (Thompson) Painter. He came to Henry Co., IN with his parents, in the fall of 1832 and experienced the hardships of pioneer life. Following agricultural pursuits during his life, he owned a farm of 213 acres in Fall Creek Township, Henry Co., IN.

In politics, he always voted the Republican ticket.

David married Miss Gilla Ann, the daughter of Jacob and Amanda Shoemaker, of Delaware Co., IN. They had a family of three children: John Perry Morton (Ada Lefter), Otto Warden (Laura McKee), and Florence Elnora (William Prigg, a farmer near Mechanicsburg, Henry Co., IN, and had two children: Lowell and Grace).
