Shirley Mae Burk, 71, formerly of Montpelier and formerly of Hickory Street, died at 6:35 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2006, at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home in Montpelier. She was born April 30, 1935, in Union Township, Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Lewis W. and Goldie (Yoh) Painter. On October 29, 1953, she married Leo Stanley Burk, who died November 26, 1985. Mrs. Burk retired from Custom Fit in Pioneer in 1988. Survivors include four sons, Joe (Sandra) Burk and Stanley Ray (Cheryl) Burk, both of Convoy, Ricky Lee (Brenda) Burk of Van Wert and Steven Earl (Ursula) Burk of Ney; a daughter, Pamela Lee (Robert) Duncan of Wauseon; 11 grandchildren, Alisa Sellers, Jason Burk, Eric (Julie) Burk, Christie Burk, Brian Burk, Melissa Burk, Sarah Burk, Jessica Clark, Amanda Clark, Chrystal Bussing and Steve Burk; and four great-grandchildren, Brittany Sellers, Brayden Sellers, Ciara Burk and William Bussing. A son, Jerry Leo Burk, and one daughter, Terry Mae Burk, also preceded her in death. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, December 18, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Gerald Baker officiating. Burial will be in Greenbrier Cemetery in Willshire Township. Visitation is from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, December 17, at the funeral home.^[1]
