Rev. Edward Palgrave, baptized 21 January 1540/1 at Thruxton, Norfolk,[1] was the second son of Thomas Palgrave, Gent., of Thruxton, Norfolk, and Alice Gunton.[2][3][4] He was rector of Barnham Broom, Norfolk from 1567-1623.[2]
He married about 1571, his wife's name is unknown.[2] They had at least two sons and two daughters:
Edward,[5] clerk, Rector of Litcham, Norfolk,[2] eldest son, buried 9 December 1641, married first Elizabeth ____ (died 1631, no issue), second Martha Lynford and had issue[3][4]
_____, wife of John Abell,[2][5] married before her father made his will,[3] born about 1574[4]
Gregory, (not named by Richardson or in Visitations), born in 1576, matriculated at age 13 at Caius College, Cambridge in 1589 (wrongly called George); drowned in the Cam and was buried at St. Michael's church, Cambridge, 19 August 1590[4]
_____, wife of Richard Russell,[2][5] married before her father made his will,[3] was born about 1580[4]
Richard,[5] was born about 1585,[4] physician, immigrant to Massachusetts, died before 8 August 1651, married Anna _____ and had issue[2][3]
Edward left a will dated 3 December 1623 requesting burial in the chancel of the church at Barnham Broom, Norfolk. His will was proved 20 December 1623 at Norwich.[2][4]
"Edward Palgrave of Barneham Broom, Co. Norfolk, Clerke. Being sick in body and aged 82, both which are fore runners and messengers of preparation for the grave, &c, I make this my last will, &c. To be buried in the chancel of the Church of Barneham Broome aforesaid. To Richard Palgrave my son and to John Abell and Richard Russolls my sons-in-law. To Edward Palgrave, clerke, my eldest son, my great cupboard in my psonage house at Barneham Broom, &c. Other bequests to said sons and sons-in-law. To Symon Webb, of Carleton Faveroo, 10s. To Richard Webb, Elizabeth Webb, and Susan Webb, son and daughters of the said Symon Webb, 5s. All other my goods, &c. to Richard Russell my son-in-law, and make him executor. Witnesses, Thos. Bayley, Willm. Nicker, John Allen."[3]
