Biography

John Palmer was baptized at Emanuel's Church at the Loop, Potter Twp., Centre Co., PA JOHN PALMER was son of FLOYD PALMER and BARBARA WOLFE. He was born on 27 April 1800 in Centre County, PA. He worked as a farmer and cooper. He married MARY SPATZ (MARY SPOTTS) in Centre County, PA, and then moved to Perry County, OH in approximately 1843. Their children were

  1. THOMAS PALMER,
  2. SUSAN PALMER,
  3. JAMES PALMER,
  4. DAVID PALMER,
  5. MARGARET PALMER,
  6. WILLIAM PALMER,
  7. ALFRED PALMER,
  8. IRA PALMER,
  9. SOLOMON F. PALMER,
  10. MARY ANN PALMER.

All but Mary Ann were born in Pennsylvania. She was born in Ohio.

In 1840, John Palmer was counted in the census of Potter Township, Centre County, PA

In 1850, John and Mary were living in Jackson, Perry County, Ohio. They had 8 children.

In 1880, he was living with his daughter Margaret and her husband, Levil Rarrick and their family. He was 80 years old.

He died in Perry County, OH on 31 March 1888. (see line 57 on Perry Death Records)

John Palmer was about 87 when he died. He is buried in the Salem Chapel United Brethren Church Cemetery, Junction City, Perry County, Ohio, USA.
