This Thomas Palmer's parents are Thomas Palmer, son of William of Scituate, and Elizabeth Russell, daughter of George of Hingham.

On 3 October, 1689, at Plymouth, "Mr Thomas Palmer of Scituate onely Son of the abovesaid Deceased" made oath to the inventory, before William Bradford, Deputy Governor, and John Cushing, Assistant, and administration was granted to him." As I posted on William Palmer who you identified as this Thomas Palmer's father, that William Palmer did not have a son Thomas. Savage is wrong in mixing different Palmer families.

A query in the NEHGR was asking for "the parentage of Thomas Palmer of Scituate. He was born about 1639 and died in Port Royal , Jamaica , in 1689. He married Elizabeth Russell of Hingham , Mass .; and had one son , Dr. Thomas Palmer of Middleborough , Mass . , author of " Admirable Secrets in Physic & Chyrurgery."

A mariner like this could have been from anywhere, and it may be that his parents will not be found among the Palmer families in early Massachusetts. Interesting that he died in Port Royal , Jamaica. Perhaps a clue to follow up.
