John, Jonathan was indeed a child of Jonathan Wyatt and Jemima Palmer. If you will find the pension petition of Sabra Palmer WIlcox ( W18454 available in Ancestry)- yes, Sabra, not Sarah. Jonathan and Wyatt, two of her brothers were still living and testified that she had married Stephen Wilcox, and Wyatt states that he attended the wedding. Wedding is in Rhode Island Vital Extracts, 1636-180=99, in ancestry: p. 344. 31 March 1782 Rhode Island. There is a wealth of secondary information in the Chautauqua County records, there by the 1820 Census, but they were in German Flats, Herkimer County in the 1810 Census( ROll 27 P 491) so tracking with Wyatt. Stephen is in the Pension Roll of 1835; you will find him in the records, but easily in the little book. Stonington During the War, p. 175.Sabra's administration records are also in Ancestry for Chautauqua County, probate date 29 May 1849: Proceeding of Administration, Vol. 2-3: 115. Also, Wyatt and Keziah had a son Hezekiah D., as proven by testimony in a litigation in which Wyatt was involved in Vermont..I know far fetched but it has to do with a Starkweather will...there it also says Wyatt can't testify at one time because he was in Ohio , probably landlooking.
Good input, but once again, please post to the relevant profiles images of the documents that you mentioned. Also, please edit the relevant profiles with copious descriptions of their spousal and descendancy relationships such as you have outlined. Thanks for your interest!
Good that you are looking into this, so if you find primary reference sources to back up what's in the Ancestry trees, please feel free to attach the relevant profiles as the evidence indicates. Primary sources such as birth & death certificates, official marriage records, biblical testimonials, etc. are the best. Published sources (family anthologies, regional histories, Barbour, etc.) are good secondary references, but with variable degrees of accuracy. Family trees based on memory, "first hand knowledge" and the like are intrinsically error prone though, so I'm sure you know to be careful. Good luck!
Using Ancestry's new TrueLines feature, I found that several lines connect from Jonathan Wyatt & Jemima (Satterlee)Palmer to Sabra 9Palmer) WIlcox and Wyatt Palmer and via Wyatt to Sophia Palmer Eddy, Jemima Palmer Tozier and Checkley Starkweather Palmer. However, one must be aware that all the pedigrees are self-submitted, so if any information isn't right or if there are other errors, then True lines reflects that. Still, it's very interesting and helpful to track lines.
Re: death of Jonathan Wyatt Palmer -he appears to have died intestate between the date of his field discharge3 January 1781 and Jemima's request for the balance of her late husband's wages 6 April 1782. See Norman Francis Boas , Stonington During thhe American Revolution, pp. 113, 114.
Jonathan Wyatt and Jemima (Satterlee) Palmer had another two children, not listed in the Stonington CT. Church/Vital Records. In the pension applications for Sabra Palmer Wilcox, widow of Stephen Wilcox, one of the affidavits was filed by Jonathan Palmer, who testified 4 September1847 that he was the child of Jonathan Wyatt and Jemima, b. at Stonington, sixty-seven years of age the previous July. (See Revolutionary War and Pension Bounty-Land Applications, Stephen Wilcox, petitioner 1830; 2nd applicant Sabra Wilcox) NOTE ; Throughout the application, her name was given as SABRA.)...Second child Abigail, approved DAR application 269185. She m. James Harkness, see The Charles R. Hale Collection of Connecticut Cemetery Inscriptions; also Findagrave #18330198.
