Text: State of Ohio, Medina County:
On the 5th day of June AD 1849 personally appeared before the Court of Common Pleas of the aforesaid county of Medina and State of Ohio James Palmer a resident of the township of Medina in the said county of Medina and state of Ohio aged fifty nine years who being first duly sworn according to law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by the Act of Congress passed June 7th 1832; that himself, Joseph Palmer of the state of Illinois and Mary Adams of the county of Cuyahoga in the state of Ohio are the only surviving children of James Palmer deceased late a resident of the township of Sullivan in the county of Ashland (formerly county of Lorain) and state of Ohio who was aprivate in the service of the United States during the Revolutionary War and died in the said township of Sullivan on the sixth day of September in the year one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine (1839) aged seventy nine years; that at his death he left no widow but four children three of whom only now survive namely James & Joseph Palmer and Mary Adams above mentioned; that the aforesaid James Palmer never drew a pension from the United States but that in the latter part of the year 1832 before the county of Common Please of Lorain county Ohio he made his application for a pension under the act of the 7th of June 1832 and his application was forwarded to the Pensions Office at the Washington City but that owing to a defect in the forms in drawing the papers and not being duly authenticated his said papers were returned and the said claimant died without making any further effort to obtain his pension. That he entered the service in the year 1777 and served as a private one year two months and twenty seven days under Major Benj. Gage, Col. Sprout Col. Cotton and St. Ed Putnam. That when he entered the service he resided in the township of Middlebury in the County of Plymouth and state of Massachusetts; that his services were principally performed in the militia & state troops of the state of Massachusetts; that he had been a resident of the aforesaid township of Sullivan for upwards of twenty-two years previous to his death and that previous he resided in the township of Somersett Windham County in the state of Vermont.

Be it known that before me Francis Frink a Justice of the Peace in and for the county aforesaid duly authorized by law to administer on this personally appeared John Palmer a resident of the township of Sullivan in said county of Ashland aged seventy years and a credible and disinterested witness who being first duly sworn according to law doth on his oath depose and say that he was born in the town of Middleborough in the county of Plymouth in the state of Massachusetts in the year seventeen hundred and seventy nine and continued to reside in said town of Middleborough until he was seven years of age when with his father Zuri S. Palmer and his family removed into the town of Somersett Windham County in the State of Vermont & where he continued to reside until the year A.D. 1833 when he removed into the aforesaid county of Ashland and has resided ever since. That from his earliest remembrance he was personally acquainted with James Palmer deceased, late a resident of the aforesaid township of Sullivan and who died in said township on or about the 6th day of September 1839; that said James Palmer was a brother of his father and was born in the aforesaid township of Middleborough Plymouth county in the state of Massachusetts where he continued to resdie during the Revolutionary War that soon after the close of the Revolution he removed in to the aforesaid town of Somersett Windham County of the state of Vermont and continued to reside there until about the year 1817 when he removed to the said township of Sullivan shere he continued to reside until his death as aforesaid; that said James Palmer was a Revolutionary Soldier of the United States and was at the time of his death seventy nine years of age; that James Palmer of Medina County Ohio, Mary Adams of Cuyahoga County Ohio and Joseph Palmer of the State of Illinois are the children and the only surviving of the said James Palmer deceased.
