Melvina Augusta Palmer was born on June 9, 1842 in Westmorland County, New Brunswick, Canada, daughter of John Palmer (1788–1889) and Elizabeth Cole (1793–1872).

Melvina (20) married Elijah Ayer (25) (born about 1837 in Sackville, Westmorland, New Brunswick; son of William Read Ayer and Mary (Wry) Ayer) on February 5, 1863 in Westmorland. Their known children were:

Melvina died on April 25, 1927 in Plainville, Norfolk, Massachusetts, United States, aged 84.[1]
