They came to America with the family first to Virginia, but it is not known where he died or is buried. His sons August (Luth. minister) and Ernest (farmer) went to Ohio with their families and are buried there.
They arrived on the ship Virginia at Baltimore, Maryland from Bremen, Germany, Sep 4, 1834, with two sons and their families. From the ships manifest, "Phileven" is listed as family of Augutus. "
Arrived America 1834, first to Baltimore, Maryland and then because of the Slave treatment moved to Tuscarawas county, Ohio,. Their 9th child was born there 1835, Augustus died less than a year later of lung fever.
