Biography


Antonino Paparcuri is born and baptized on 5 December 1824 in Corleone. He is the son of Don Fiderico Paparcuri and Donna Grazia Napoli (though her honorific is omitted from Antonino's baptismal record). His godparents are Don Calogero and Donna Francesca Cannella, father and daughter.

In 1834, ‘’Donna’’ Grazia Paparcuri, 49 (b. 1785), is a widow. She and her children Paolo, 20 (b. 1814---actually, 1815), Leoluca, 17 (b. 1817---actually, 1818), Bernardo, 13 (b. 1821), and Antonino, 9 (b. 1825---actually, 1824), live on the strada Grande, near the strada della Ficara. They live four doors away from the family of Antonino di Palermo.

Maestro Antonino (he is already a maestro) marries Nicolena Canali on 23 February 1852. Antonino's parents have both died by this time.

Antonino and Nicolena have at least eight children together: Maria Grazia (1853), Frederico (1854), Rosario Luciano (1858), Maria Grazia Bernarda (1860), Marianna (1862), Lucia (1864), and Paola Giovanna Salvatrice (1868) are all known from their baptismal records. Another daughter, Calogera, is known, but her birthdate is unknown at this time.

Maria Grazia is born and baptized 19 June 1853, as Marian Gratiam. Her godparents are Vincenzo Salemi and Francisca Marsala.

She dies on 26 August 1854 at a year and two months of age.

Frederico is born and baptized as Fridericum on 29 December 1854. His godparents are Antoninus Ragusa and Carmela Inserra.
Rosario Luciano is born and baptized Rosarium Lucianum on 14 January 1858. He is named after his maternal grandfather. His godparents are Placidus Faja and Rosalia Spadafora.
Maria Grazia Bernarda is born at 11 AM and baptized the same day, 13 January 1860. Her godfather is Joannes Ruvolo, unmarried.
Marianna is born 17 June and baptized 18 June 1862. She is named after her maternal grandmother. Her godparents are Michael di Giglia and Maria di Mettia.

Marianna dies on 26 February 1864 at a year and eight months of age.

Lucia is born 22 April 1865 and baptized the following day. Her godparents are Vitus Macaluso and Leoluchina Cortimiglio.
Paola Giovanna Salvatrice is born and baptized Paulam Joannam Salvatricem on 18 November 1868. Her godmother is the unmarried Anna Maria Campagna.

Lucia dies at four years of age, on 24 September 1869.

Antonino dies, reportedly at age 45 (he is 46) on 24 April 1870. His wife survives him.

Rosario Luciano dies at age 12 (b. 1858) on 20 July 1870.

Maria Grazia Bernarda marries Paolo Soldano on 20 February 1884.

Another child of Antonino and Nicolina is Calogera, who is the unmarried sister of Frederico when they stand as godparents to their sister, Maria Grazia Bernarda's daughter, Nicolina, with Paolo Soldano (recorded as Giordano) in 1887.

Paola Giovanna Salvatrice marries Vincenzo Provenzano on 12 February 1889.

Nicolena dies at age 62 (b. 6 Jun 1832) on 2 May 1894.

Paola dies at age 33 on 7 October 1902. Vincenzo survives her.[1]
