Hi Michael,

How are you? I'm David a WikiTree Mentor. Hope you're enjoying our site. Thanks for adding profiles to WikiTree. There are reasons behind the eighth point in our Honor Code: "We cite sources. Without sources we can't objectively resolve conflicting information.

Sources are critically important for genealogy and you will be helping future genealogists by listing where the information you've added came from. This page describes sources and how to enter sources.

Family Search and Find a Grave are free websites for finding sources:

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Hi Michael, I see that you just volunteered and signed our honor code. That's great! Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Maybe you have some historically significant ancestors? I see you have surnames for tags. Why don't you stop by the One Name Studies project, to see if there's already a name study for (surname) going on? The current leaders for that are Doug Lockwood and Alison Andrus. They would be happy to get you started.

You might be interested in one of the other Projects that can be found here.

Let me know if you need any help!

We're glad to have you on board!!

You are now a confirmed member of WikiTree! Thank you for volunteering.

Not sure how to start? Visit How to Use Wikitree for instructions.

Don't forget to ask for help if you need it! WikiTree members are always eager to offer guidance to a fellow genealogist.

In case you haven't seen it, our G2G Question of the week is: What's the most unusual name you've found in your family tree?

Looking for some great ways to help out our collective effort? The Volunteers Needed page is the place to go!

Have Fun!

I wanted to suggest that you can edit your tag(s) to show any surnames, locations or historical events that you're researching. Once you save your tags, you'll be able to click them and see a list of other WikiTree genealogists who are also researching those subjects. For surnames, there will be another tab on that page that shows you all of the profiles with that name.

You'll also get notifications in your daily & weekly emails when there is activity relevant to your tags.

Hi Michael,

Welcome to WikiTree! The initial email you receive from WikiTree will contain links to help you get started. We hope you will take time to browse the site and check us out.

WikiTree is FREE, and different from other genealogical sites. Our goal is to have one Profile per person, which means we collaborate as a team.

If you would like to join us, add your own family, share research, and collaborate with others, simply confirm your email address, fill out the TAGS on your Profile page, click SAVE TAGS, and VOLUNTEER. (information on Tags can be found at http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Tags). Once you opt to Volunteer, one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership.

Hope you decide to join us!
