Biography

Charles Parent has French origins.

Charles Parent, son of Francois Parent and Marianne Arlu, was born in 1738 at Mobile.

He ended military service in the French Army circa 1770 at Saint Louis.[1]

He married Jeanne Rochon on April 7, 1772 in the absence of a priest, so it was not recorded until June 23, 1773.[2]

Children of Charles and Jeanne:
  1. Charles Parent (1790) m. Rosala[1][3]
  2. Francoise Aimee Parent (1798) m. Andre Bienvenu Roman son of Jacques Roman.[1][3]

He took an oath of loyalty to the Spanish King, Carlos III (Bourbon) di Espana "Charles III" on 22 March 1780 at Mobile, New Spain.[4] He settled on a large grant of land just to the north of present day Madisonville, Saint Tammany Parish in 1785. He was Commandant of the District of Chifoncte in 1788 at St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana. [1]

Charles died in 1804 in Louisiana.[1][3]
