Biography

Antoinette Park Lockett, a granddaughter of Thomas Park, in a 1911 unpublished manuscript, identified the children of Thomas Park, and the children of her parents, William Thomas Park and Mazy Rees. "My grandfather was Thomas Park his sons and Daughter was Moses Andrew Barton George James and William Thomas who was my father there Daughters was Eliza and Elvira They died before they were grown"

" My father William Thomas Park was born March 8th 1802 my mother Mazy Dent Rees Park was born Feb 23th 1806 there union was blessed with five sons and six daughters 11 children 1. William Thomas Park Jun who married Mary Boyington of Lumpkin Ga 2. Josiah Andrew Park who married Martha Powell of Buenavista, Ga 3. Elizabeth Elenor Park who married Thomas Pearsons of Monroe Co Ga 4. Elvira Ann Park who married Gilford Jackson of Upson Co Ga 5. James Jefferson Park who married Mary Stewart of Macon Ga 6. Martha Amelia Park who married W. H. Hoover of Glenville Ala 7. Elmina Antoinette Park who married Uriah Solomon Luckett of Marion Co GA 8. Mary Adline Park who married Thomas Cranford of Marion Co first after his death she married Blan Wallace Sen of Marion Co Ga 9. Mazy Josephine Park who married John Sims of Marion Co Ga 10. The last will and testament of Thomas Park dec'd State of Georgia Putnam County In the name of god amen, I, Thos Park of the county of Putnam and State aforesaid being of sound and disposing mand and memory but weak in boddy and knowing that it is appointed for all ment to die do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament that is to day in primus, I give and bequeth to my beloved wife Elizabeth Park for and during her natural life or widonwhood the tract or parcel of land where I now reside, one feather bed bedstead and furniture, also a proportional part of my kitchen furniture, with such plantation tools and utinsels as may be necessary to her carring on the plantation at the descretion of my Executors. Item 2nd At the death of or marriage of my wife and would the later occur It is my will that in the event of the former the land be sold and equally divided between my children with the exception of my son Andrew and in the Event of the latter contingency, that the land be sold and divided between my wife and children Share and Share alkie with the exception of Son Andrew aforesaid. Item 3rd It is my will that any of my heirs being legatees may run the gin for his or their use or benefit after the crop which is made on the plantation and shall have been ginned. Items 4th It is my will that the ballance of my property of every description be equally divided between my children with the exception of my Son Andrew and that this division be effected by Sale or otherwise, as my Executor may deem meets. The profession which has been given to my Son Andrew is deemed an equivalent to and share of my property. Item 5 I hereby nominate and appoint my affectionate Son Andrew Park my Executor to this my last will and testament, ratifying and confirming this Said will and testament as my last will and testament revoking all others by me heretofore made.   1. "Record of the Park generations", dated 9 April 1911,unpublished, written and signed by Mrs. Antoinette Park Lockett, of Americus, GA, provided the following information about the Park family. She was a daughter of William Thomas Park. She identified her grandfather as Thomas Park, and one of his brothers as James Park, of north Georgia. She identified the sons of Thomas Park as Moses, Andrew, Barton, George, James, and William Thomas, and the daughters as Eliza and Elvira, both of whom died before they were grown. She gave 27 February 1772 as the birth date of Thomas Park, and 18 October 1777 as the birth date of Elizabeth Phelps, his wife. She related that her father, William Thomas Park, was born 8 March 1802, and her mother, Mazy Dent Reese Park, was born 23 February 1806. She then stated that there were 5 sons and 6 daughters from this marriage, and lists 10 of them and their spouses names. She further stated that this information came from her father's Bible record. (Notably absent from this record is the fact that her father, William Thomas, had remarried and had 3 daughters by his second wife, Amy Carter.)

  7. Elmina Antionette Park who married Uriah Solomon Lockett of Marion County, Ga.
  8. Mary Adline Park who married Thomas Cranford of Marion County first. After his death she married Bland Wallace Sen. (Sr.) of Buena Vista.
  9. Mazey Josephine Park who married John Sims of Marion County, Ga.
  10. John Henry Park who never married.

She further stated that Thomas, Josiah, and Jefferson were practicing physicians. (Information in parentheses added from census reports-RWT)

They were the parents of 7 children: Andrew (25 Oct 1798-1827), Moses (4 May 1800-22 July 1893), William Thomas (8 Mar 1802-10 Jan 1873), James (1802- 25 Oct 1837), Eliza 1808-1824), Barton (no record), Elizabeth and (no record).
