Biography

Solomon was born about 1794 in Spartanburg Co., South Carolina to William Parker Sr and wife Elizabeth Smith. About 1808 the family moved to into Buncombe Co., NC when the area was still Cherokee Indian land (and later became Haywood Co. , then Henderson, and finally Transylvania Co.

He served in the lst Regiment of the Buncombe County, NC Militia during the War of 1812, in Captain Clayton Neil's Company. [1]

About that time he married Elizabeth, reported to be Elizabeth Massengale. This marriage is not proven.

He is listed on the 1820 census of Haywood Co., NC with four children under the age of ten and one male in the 16-18 bracket (unknown). He continues to be listed on the 1830, 1840, and 1850 census records in Haywood Co. Sometime before 1840 he moved from the Gloucester Township area of present day Transylvania Co into what became Jackson Co. in 1851.

In January of 1857 Soloman's son Daniel was shot and killed by John C. Hooper in a dispute over Daniel wife, Miranda Brown. In 1860 Daniel's young children were living with Solomon and Elizabeth. [2].

He died after the 1860 census enumeration.
