Biography

The birth date for Elizabeth Parker has not yet been found in Quaker records. Her family is found in the Quaker records and she is the daughter of Joseph Parker and Eliza Eblen. [1] The birth date attributed to Elizabeth is based on calculations from census records for the years 1820, 1830, and 1840.

When Elizabeth Eblen married Jonathan Myers on 30 May 1796 in Loudoun County, Virginia,[2] he was not a member of the Quaker Society. For that reason, Elizabeth was dismissed as a member of the society. She could maintain membership if she apologized for marrying out of her faith. Elizabeth was able to continue to attend meetings, but her family was not recorded in the minutes of the meetings. [3] [4]

Jonathan and Elizabeth's children are:

  • 1. Mahala MYERS (abt 1798 - aft 1850); (received by request into Quaker unity, October 22, 1818)[5]
  • 2. William MYERS (10 Sep 1798 - 21 Mar 1871) & Mary RICKETT (12 Dec 1809 - 28 Mar 1891)
  • 3. Joseph MYERS (26 Aug 1802 - 30 Oct 1874) & (m1)Elizabeth HEWITT (1807 - 15 Jan 1843) (m2) Mary E WARNER (15 Mar 1817 - 24 Jan 1882)
  • 4. Jonathan MYERS Jr. (11 Nov 1806 - 4 Mar 1878) & Elizabeth PACKER (9 Jan 1807 - 18 Sep 1864); (received by request into Quaker unity, October 22, 1818)[6]
  • 5. David MYERS (18 Aug 1809 - 12 Sep 1876) & Sarah THOMAS (6 Feb 1815 - 20 Dec 1895)
  • 6. Lambert MYERS (abt 1811 - 1862) & Mary Lucinda WILLEY (12 Feb 1811 - 5 Sep 1855)
  • 7. Israel MYERS (30 Oct 1814 - 3 Oct 1849) & Elizabeth HALES (22 Mar 1815 - 11 Jul 1896)
  • 8. Elizabeth MYERS

Jonathan appears in Columbiana County, Ohio tax records beginning in the year 1817 and was listed as a farmer.[7] Elizabeth was received in the New Garden Monthly Meeting in Ohio in 1819, and so was reinstated as a member of the Quaker faith and was living in Ohio at that time.[8] Elizabeth lived the balance of her life in Carroll County, Ohio. Her date of death is listed as 1845 as she appears in the 1840 census but her husband is widowed in the 1850 census.
