Biography

Kendreth embraced the Church of God doctrine at a young age, and during his years in Simpson he was an active member of the church. He had a beautiful voice, and often sang in church with his sister Jewel, and his cousins, Mae and Myrtle Jackson, and J.D. and Arthur Lynn Carver. When the war broke out in the 40's, Kendreth joined the military, along with other youths from the parish, where served as a Chaplain in the USAR. After the war, he was supervisor in the Vernon Parish School system for many years, and later taught in Lee Junior College, Jackson Kentucky. A building on campus at Lee was dedicated in his name after his death.
