Douglas was born in about 1892 in Beaufort West or Mafikeng, Cape, South Africa. He was the son of William Parker and Marcella Susan Devenish. He was born around the same year that his father died.
Douglas was a station foreman with the South African Railways at Besters Station near Ladysmith. He married Honora Edith Hall, who was from Surrey in England, on 17th March 1921, at All Saints Church, Ladymith, Natal, in the District of Klip River. [1][2]
He and Honora had a daughter and were later divorced. He returned from England alone in February 1931. [4]
He died in Cape Town in 1959 [5] and was buried at the Plumstead cemetery with his brother Norman Stretch Parker and 2 other relatives [6]
