Name at birth: Aquila Paca.
Aquila Paca was born 30 Mar 1753 in Harford Co., Maryland to John Paca Jr (son of Aquila Paca) and his wife Margaret Lee. John Paca in his will, dated 17 Sep 1757, names sons Aquila, John, and James. His widow gives their birth dates in a post mortem deposition in Dec 1757.
He is first noted on Rev War militia muster roll for Harford Co., Maryland as “Capt. Aquila Paca.” In 1776 he named as “Aquila Paca” age 23 (b 1753), taxed on property which included 8 slaves. This indicates Aquila Paca the son of John Paca who died in 1757 lived to maturity and was relatively wealthy for someone that young.
It’s likely he changed his name to Aquila Parker about 1778 as he had an older first cousin, Aquila Paca Sr. (1738-1788). Prior to this time he went by “Aquila Paca Jr” on legal documents.
As Aquila Parker he married Elizabeth Amos on 3 Mar 1779 at Baltimore.
He lived in Harford County in 1790 when he was listed next to Benjamin Amos, a cousin of his wife. Several young children in the household.
Listed as Aquila Park in the christening record of his son William in 1795.
Moved to Bourbon Co., KY in 1797. His father in law Nicholas Day Amos moved there about 1795 and several members of the extended Amos family also moved to KY about the same time.
According to DAR records Aquilla Parker was a Staff Officer (adjutant to the Gunpowder Battalion) in the Maryland Militia during the American Revolution.

It’s been conjectural who John Parker who supposedly married Elizabeth Porter was, the Paca genealogy doesn’t indicate he married. It is pretty clear Aquila comes through John Paca and Margaret Lee.
