The Find-a-Grave memorial suggests that he is the son of Nathaniel Parker. Which would make him of Groton: (Birth) Abel, s. Nathaniel and Elinor, Nov. 24, 1745. (Groton Mass VItal Records). There is a second Abel Parker born in Hawley, Mass in 1745, I don't find anything for him. Hawley is certainly closer to Pownal than Groton is. But he's the right age for a Rev war vet, and they did tend to move around a bit.
From the inscription, I get that he died in Feb, 1834 aged 90 years and 11 mos, which would his birth date in Mar 1743. I don't find any Massachusetts Abel Parkers with that birth year.
