James Parker was born on 23 May 1810 in Sevenoaks, Kent, England to parents Stephen Parker and Jane Heath. He was baptized on 25 Jul 1810 in Sevenoaks, Kent, England.[1]
He married Charlotte Jardine on 31 Aug 1848 in St Martin in the Fields, Westminster, Middlesex, England.[2]

In 1851 he was age 40 and living with his wife and three sons in Bermondsey, Surrey, England. He was a gentleman.[5]
He emigrated to New Zealand with his wife and children. They arrived on the Zealandia in about 1856.
He died on 16 Oct 1874 at the age of 65 in Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand. James was buried in the Barbadoes Street Cemetery, Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand.[6][7][8]
