Biography

Grace B. Parker, the daughter of Harry Parker and Lettie Johnson, was born on 31 Jul 1887 in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio.

Her siblings included:

• Anna Louise Parker (1884-1962)
• Clifford A. Parker (1889-1978)

Grace married a man named Earl Wilson Kolthoff (born 23 March 1889 in Cincinnati; died 18 June 1968 in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas), son of Fred William Kolthoff and Anna Beckman, about December 1909. ^[1]
The marriage ended before December 1915.

Earl and Grace had one daughter, Grace Amelie Ralston Kolthoff (1911-2000)

Grace then married Alvin George Merkhofer (born 28 Mar 1885 in Cincinnati; died 20 Jun 1961 in Cincinnati), son of Jacob Merkhofer and Hermina Schafstahl, on 1 January 1916 in Hamilton County, Ohio. They had been issued a license on 31 December 1915, and were both residents of Cincinnati. ^[2]

Their children included:

• Dorothea Mae Merkhofer (1917–1998)
• Jean Alberta Merkhofer (1920–2006)
• NOTE: Grace's daughter by her first husband was raised by Alvin Merkhofer as his own; it is not known if she was formally adopted.

Grace died at the age of 80 on 5 September 1967 in Cincinnati.

She was buried in Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati. ^[3]

An obituary for Jean Alberta Merkhofer (died 25 Jul 2006) mentioned Grace (nee Parker) and Alvin Merkhofer as her deceased parents. ^[4]
