Newspaper article: "David Parker, in his better days, was a large, supple man. He was far up in the eighties when he related to me his stories of the revolution. I was a boy of nineteen and engaged in teaching school near Birdseye [Rutland County, Vermont]. I met him one evening at the home of his son, Stukely, who lived in the same district. I asked him to give me his experience in the revolutionary war."
