Muriel Hilger Age 95, of Zimmerman and formerly of Simpson, passed away peacefully and delivered into our Lords hands on August 9, 2013 in her home. She was born Clara Muriel Parker in Simpson, Louisiana on October 28, 1917. The family later moved to Taylor Hill. Her first husband and she later purchased the old Zimmerman Saw mill town where she continued to live out the rest of her life.

Muriel is affectionately known to her family and friends as "MaTid". She was a gorgeous, loving woman, with a sharp wit and a warm heart. She was a peacemaker, believing that there was good in everybody. She had great empathy for the feelings of others and was mindful of the effect that her words and deeds might have on them. She was a wonderful role model, always acting with dignity and wisdom. Muriel was active in many church and benevolent organizations, a member of Sharp Church of God. Muriel logged thirty years as a volunteer with the Senior Corps of Rapides Council on Aging and was a columnist for The Senior News paper for many years. Her passion in life was her hobby of capturing history with her picture albums and scrapbooks.
