Biography

Elizabeth Parkes was born in 1824 and christened on 11 Jul 1824 at St. Thomas, Dudley, Worcestershire, England. She was the daughter of John and Hannah Parkes.^[1]

In the 1841 census, Elizabeth was age 18 living at Mamble, Dudley, Staffordshire with her father John Parkes (45), mother Hannah Parkes (40), brothers Thomas Parkes (15), James Parkes (12), William Parkes (4), sister Mary Parkes (10).^[2]

Elizabeth Parkes married Samuel Holloway on 18 Jun 1844 at Sedgley, Staffordshire.^[3][4] They had at least 10 children.

In the 1851 census, Elizabeth Holloway was age 28 living at Mamble, Dudley, Staffordshire with her husband Samuel Holloway (32), sons John Holloway (6), daughters Mary Ann Holloway (4), Elizabeth Holloway (2), Roseanna Holloway (1).^[5]

In the 1861 census, Elizabeth Holloway was age 38 living at Oakeywell Street, Dudley, Staffordshire with her husband Samuel Holloway (42), sons John Holloway (16), Samuel Holloway (7), Thomas Holloway (4), Joseph Holloway (2), James Holloway (0), daughters Mary Ann Holloway (14), Elizabeth Holloway (12), Roseanna Holloway (10), Sarah Holloway (9), Matilda Holloway (5).^[6]

Elizabeth's husband Samuel died in 1868.

In the 1871 census, Elizabeth Holloway was age 47, widowed, living at Dudley, Staffordshire with her sons John Holloway (26), Samuel Holloway (17), Thomas Holloway (14), Joseph Holloway (13), daughters Mary A Holloway (22), Roseanna Holloway (21), Matilda Holloway (15).^[7]

In the 1881 census, Elizabeth Holloway was age 57, widow, living at Constitution Hill, Dudley, Staffordshire with her sons Joseph Holloway (23), John Holloway (36) and his daughters Sarah Holloway (8), Alice Holloway (5), Lizzie Holloway (2).^[8]

Elizabeth Holloway died on 10 Dec 1883 age 60 at Dudley.^[9] She was buried on 16 Dec 1883 at St Thomas, Dudley.^[10]
