Elaine Audrey Tuma

Elaine Audrey Tuma, 85, a former resident of Webster Township, and also Greenvale Township, died at Three Links Care Center, in Northfield, on Wednesday, March 26.

A native of Wheatland Township, Rice County, Elaine was born on Sept. 22, 1917. Her parents were Thomas and Wilhelmina (Velishek) Parkos. She attended a rural school and completed ninth grade in Lonsdale.

Elaine Parkos and William T. Tuma were married at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, in Montgomery, on Nov. 22, 1936. They resided in Northfield, until 1943, when they rented a farm in Greenvale Township, near Hazelwood. They became semi-retired in 1978. William died in 1987.

Elaine was a 60-year member of the Church of the Annunciation, in Hazelwood, where she was active in the Rosary Society, and in quilting. She enjoyed gardening and baking, and sharing the fruits of her labors.

Elaine Tuma is survived by her children, William, Jr., (Karen) Tuma, Hemet, CA, Marvin (Helen) Tuma, Northfield, Neil Tuma, Minneapolis, and Keith Tuma, Northfield; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson, and many other relatives. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph and Robert Parkos, and sisters, Anna Duban, Katherine Kucera, Marie Smisek, Rose Brecka, Pauline McMeans and Beatrice Flicek.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, March 29, at the Church of the Annunciation, with the Rev. Dennis Evenson officiating.

Pallbearers were Christopher, Garold, John and Scot Tuma, Mercedes Tuma-Hansen and Curtis Cornelison. Honorary pallbearers were Troy and Nicole Tuma, Karmyn Nelson and Caroline Rowan.

Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, at Lonsdale.

Visitation was at the Benson and Langehough Funeral Home, in Northfield, on Friday, March 28, and at the church on Saturday, prior to the Mass.
