Hugh Parks Sr. served with 4th North Carolina Regiment, Continental Army during the American Revolution.
Hugh Parks was born Feb. 15th, 1747 most likely in the Carolinas, but his parents are unknown at this time. There is another Hugh Parks with the parents of Hugh Parks and Margaret Young, this Hugh was a Captain in the Revolutionary War, our Hugh was not.
Hugh entered the Service for the American Revolution as a Private: battles of Brandywine and Germantown, plus several skirmishes, i.e. Knight near Pedee River in NC where he received a wound in the left leg.
Hugh married Elizabeth Barnhill on Dec. 18th, 1781 in Rutherford, North Carolina. They had 14 (possible) children: Infant 1782, John 1783, Samuel 1786, Mary 1786, James 1788, Hugh Jr. 1790, Robert 1793, Alexander 1795, William 1796 Margaret 1797, Jesse 1801, Pleasant 1803, Elizabeth 1806, Sarah (Sally) 1809. Note: the last children may be grandchildren as the mother would have been 52 years old at the time of their birth.
Shortly after their marriage, they migrated to Kentucky, which turned into South Carolina - where they stayed and raised their family.
In the 1820's the moved up to Scott County, Indiana where they remained until their death. Hugh and his wife died within a couple years of each other, he died in 1838 and she died in 1844.

It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Hugh by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Hugh:
With extensive research, I have come to the conclusion that I placed my Hugh Parks with the wrong parents! There is another Hugh Parks, that was a Captain in the Revolutionary War, that belongs to the Hugh and Margaret (Young) Parks. The Hugh Parks that married Elizabeth Barnhill has unknown parentage at this time.
