Dr. Russell Park came to America from Stewartstown, Tyrone Co, Ireland when nineteen years of age. He studied medicine under Dr. Benjamin Rush of Philadelphia who later became founder of the University of Pennsylvania. Doctor Russell Park was a surgeon in the regiment in the 2nd Brigade 9th Division Pennsylvania militia, commanded by Colonel James Montgomery in the (1812) War with Great Britain. He served from Nov 10, 1814- Nov 26, 1814.
He settled in Jerseytown, Pennsylvania and during the rest of his life practiced medicine there. He was married to Martha Hopkins, daughter of Rev. Caleb Hopkins an Episcopal clergyman who served in the Revolutionary War. Martha died and later Russell married Mary Moore.
