Biography

Artemus Parmenter was born in 1790/1 Northfield, Franklin, Massachusetts, of Artemus P. Parmenter and Saral Elizabeth “Lucy“ Grant. His brother Ashabel a year later. (Another Artemas Parmenter was born 10 June 1770 in neighboring Bernardstown. He married Lucy Grant.)

Artemus married Sabrina Parks (25 May 1790-15 Aug 1852) of Sudbury, Vermont in 1810. They likely married in New York and had at least 3 boys and 3 girls there, including

  • Jason(1819)
  • Hiram (1823)
  • Rachel (1824)

Between 1830 and 1840 they moved to Sumit, Ohio, where they had

  • Abram (1833)
  • John V.

They than moved to Berrien Springs, Michigan where Artemas died 12 May 1859 and is buried in Riverview Cemetery, Saint Joseph, Berrien County, Michigan. (2 Artemas Parmenters have been reported to have been buried side by side by someone who saw graves, but not reported by cemetery).

Sabrina died August 15, 1852 and is buried alongside him.

Parmenter-1237 and Parmenter-429 do not represent the same person because: I looked at these profiles again, with some newer research. Its not as clear as it appears as not all the info seems to be attributed to the right artemus. Its an unusual name, but not then. Please dont merge them yet.
