Parr, Norman, former Granite man, were Monday afternoon in the City Cemetery. Parr, 71, died from a heart ailment at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, Saturday. He had been ill for three months. He homesteaded in Kiowa County and moved here about 1900 to operate a barber shop. In 1920 the family moved to Norman. A Mason and a Methodist, he took an active part in civic affairs in Norman and developed a youth recreational program in Norman that received national recognition. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Jessie Parr, one daughter Mrs. Elmerta Hassler, Great Neck, N.Y.; two sons, Robert E. Parr, San Francisco, Calif; and Ray Parr, Oklahoma City, and a sister Miss Lavica Parr, Whittier, Calif.

Quality or Certainty of Data: 3 Data: Text: Parr: Raymond Gilbert, age 81, departed this life Feb. 7, 1992 at Mercy Hospital. Born Dec 13, 1910 near Granite, Oklahoma to Archie and Jesse Parr, Ray lived in Granite the early part of his life. He moved to Norman at age ten and lived there until 1934. He then moved to OKC where he went to work as a reported for The Daily Oklahoman and retired from there after 41 years of service. He married Augusta Dyer in Dec. 1936. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Augusta, of the home in OKC; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Earlene Parr of OKC; grandson, Richard Parr, OKC; brother Robert Parr of Lane, OK. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Feb 11, graveside at the Granite City Cemetery, Granite, OK. A memorial service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church, 5201 N. Brookline, at 1:00 p.m. Friday, Feb 14.
