Edith O. Parrett was born about 1901 in Sharon, Connecticut. She was the child of Harriett and Edward Parrot. Her uncle William Parritt died of disease while in service to the famous 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry.

She married Arthur Girardeau and they had at least four children: Lois, Vivian, Emerson, and Janice.
