Winifred was born in late 1859 as she was Christened 1 Jan 1860 in Fletching, Sussex, England [1]She is the daughter of Spencer Parris and Ann Ellis. [2].
In the 1861 Census Winifred (spelt Winefred Panis in the Census) is aged 1 living at Sheffield Green, Fletching, Sussex with her father Spencer Panis, aged 33, born in Buxted, Sussex, a cordwainer, her mother Ann, aged 32, born in Fletching, Sussex, older sister Alice F F Panis, aged 10, born in Fletching, older sister Mary A A Panis, aged 7, born in Lindfield, Sussex, older sister Clara S S Panis, aged 3, born in Fletching, Sussex [3]
In the 1871 Census Winifred (spelt Winefred) is aged 11, a scholar, living at Sheffield Green, Fletching, Sussex with her father Spencer Panis, aged 43, born in Buxted, Sussex, a master shoemaker, her mother Ann, aged 42, born in Fletching, Sussex. [4]
Winifred married William Glazebrook after 18 Apr 1886 in Shermanbury, Sussex as the Banns were read on 4 Apr 1886, 11 Apr 1886 and 18 Apr 1886 by H Witthurst. [5] [6] The same register does not have a record of the actual marriage.
Winifred and William gave birth to a daughter Ellen (Nelly) Glazebrook shortly before 31 Oct 1886 as she was Christened at Hadlow Down, Sussex. The family were living in Hadlow Down, and William was a Coachman. The ceremony was performed by N G Brown the minister.[7] [8]
Winifred and William had a son William (Willie) Glazebrook shortly before 25 Nov 1888 in Hadlow Down, Sussex. The family were living in Stonehurst, Hadlow Down, and William was a coachman, the ceremony was performed by John A Warner the Vicar. The entry states Winifred Parris as the name of Winifred.[9] [10]
In the 1891 Census Winifred is aged 30 living at Jarvis Lane, Steyning, Sussex with her husband William Glazebrook, aged 35, a groom, their daughter Nelly aged 4, born in Mayfield, Sussex, and son Willie, aged 2 born in Mayfield, Sussex.[11]
In the 1901 Census Winifred is aged 41, living at Church Road, Henfield, Sussex, with her husband William aged 47, a domestic coachman, daughter Nellie aged 14, an apprentice dressmaker, and son William aged 12. [12]
In the 1911 Census, Winifred is aged 50 living at Church Street, Henfield, Sussex with her husband William aged 57 a jobbing gardener, and their son William aged 21. The census confirms that Winifred and William had been married for 26 years and they had two children both still living.
Winifred probably died on 27 Nov 1915 as there is an entry in probate stating "GLAZEBROOK Winifred Clara of Walder's Cottage, Henfield, Sussex (wife of William Glazebrook) died 27 Nov 1915 Administration Chichester 4 Jan to the said William Glazebrook jobbing gardener. Effects £119 17s 6d" [13]
