Biography

Rear-Admiral Sir William Edward Parry was commander of an Arctic Expedition between 1819 and 1820. He was commander of an Arctic Expedition between 1821 and 1823. He was invested as a Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in February 1821. He was commander of an Arctic Expedition between 1824 and 1825. He was invested as a Knight on 29 April 1829. He gained the rank of Rear-Admiral on 4 June 1852.
He died at Ems in Germany on 8 July 1855 but his body was returned to London for burial. He is buried in Greenwich Hospital Cemetery.
