Martha was born on 3 May 1727 in Chester, Massachusetts, USA. She was the daughter of Josiah Parsons and Sarah Sheldon.^{[1] [2]}

When Martha was about 22 she married Martin Phelps in 1750 at an unknown location. The couple had one child: Andrew Phelps.^[3]

Martha died at the age of 87 on 23 December 1814 in Chester, Massachusetts.^{[4] [5] [6]}
