Susanna (Parsons) Matthews lived in New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand.
Biography
Susanna Parsons was born at Devon, England about 1819.
In 1841, at the age of 22, she emigrated to New Zealand aboard the 'Amelia Thompson' with her 25-year-old husband Samuel Matthews.[1] The 'Amelia Thompson' arrived at New Plymouth in Taranaki on 3rd September 1841 after leaving Plymouth, England on 25th March 1841, a voyage of five and a half months.
Susanna and Samuel settled in New Plymouth and eventually owned land at Waiwakaiho, near the Fitzroy area of New Plymouth. The couple are believed to have had eight children, the first of whom was either stillborn or died in infancy in 1843.[2]
Susanna died at Waiwakaiho, New Plymouth on 10th April 1860[3][4], and was buried at the Fitzroy [Primitive] Methodist Churchyard in New Plymouth the following day.

↑ New Zealand Olivers webpage has a Parsons Family Tree online at <https://nzolivers.com/tree/wc08/wc08_424.html> which shows a Mary Jane Matthews as the eldest child of Susanna Parsons and Samuel Matthews, born and died in New Zealand on 7th December 1843. Efforts to find confirmation of this have so far been unsuccessful.
