Biography

I have been researching my shared DNA matches on ancestry looking for either one of Asa's wives being the mother of daughter Susannah Partin or possibly his own maternal line. All my shared matches lead back to a specific Rogers family: descendants of William Henry Rogers 1657-1727, more information on him here:

https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/L6QY-5Z3

and he has a wikitree profile Rogers-2416

the majority (but not all) of my shared matches lead to his descendants, son Robert Rogers and grandson Timothy Lot Rogers.

Being that DNA does not lie, someone in this Rogers family is a maternal link but who and which generation crosses needs more research.

From FindaGrave Memorial:

Asa B. Parten was born in North Carolina. He was living in South Carolina in 1812 where he is listed on the War of 1812 Service Records.

U.S., War of 1812 Service Records, 1812-1815 about Asa B Partin Name: Asa B Partin Company: 2 REG'T (MCWILLIE'S) SOUTH CAROLINA MIL. Rank - Induction: PRIVATE Rank - Discharge: PRIVATE Roll Box: 160 Microfilm Publication: M602

Two sons, John Manley Parten and William Asa J. Parten were born in South Carolina. He was enumerated on the 1820 and 1830 Census for Sumter County, South Carolina.

Asa B. Parten was enumerated on the 1840 Census for Marengo County, Alabama. He was in Marengo County in the Demopolis area in 1837 where he received a grant of land. I have a copy of this land deed and of Asa B. Parten's will. According to witnesses, family was with Asa at the time of his will and at the time of his death.

Asa died in 1848 in Marengo County, Alabama. According to family members, Asa B. Parten is buried on his own land in Marengo County, Alabama. I am attempting to find a photo or at least a document to verify this.
