Walter Partenheimer[1][2]
was born on 13 March 1892,
in Camden County, New Jersey,[3][4]Philip Clarence Partenheimer and Clara V DuBois.
His World War I draft registration card claims he was born on 13 February 1893,[3] but the 1900 census claims he was born in February 1892,[1] and his World War II draft registration card also claims he was born 13 February 1892.[4]
Since the earliest record reports his birthdate as 1892, and the World War II draft registration card supports that, it is most likely correct.
In 1900, he was living with his mother and siblings at 1225 Second Street, ward 5, Camden, Camden County, New Jersey.[1]
In 1910, he was living with his mother and siblings at 1127 Locust Street, ward 5, Camden, Camden County, New Jersey.
He was a railroad newsboy.[5]
On 30 January 1917, he was married to Pearl Battersby , at Kaighn Avenue Methodist Episcopal Church.
[2][6]
They had two children:[7][8][9]
When he registered for the draft, he was living at 1127 Locust Street, Camden, New Jersey, and worked as a salesman for Union News Company, Camden, New Jersey.
He claimed exemption from the draft because his mother, wife, and child depended on him.[3]
In 1920, Walter and Pearl were living at 834 South 6th Street, ward 6, Camden, Camden County, New Jersey, with their children and two roomers.
Walter was a driver, working for himself.[7]
In 1930, Pearl was living at 207 Fifth Street, ward 1, Ocean City, Cape May County, New Jersey, which she owned, and which was worth $1,500.
She was living with her daughter Beatrice.
She was listed as married, but Walter is not listed as living with her.
Pearl was a waitress at a hotel.
[8]
In 1940, Walter was living with his daughter Beatrice and her family, at 505 Millbank Road, Upper Darby, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
He was looking for work, and had been out of work for 57 weeks.
He had last worked as a salesman for a news agency.[9]
On 27 April 1942, when he registered for the draft, he was living with his daughter Beatrice at 29 Lamport Road, Upper Darby, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
He worked for Union News Company, at 3317 Arch Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
He was 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighed 185 pounds, and had blue eyes, blonde hair, was bald, and had a light complexion.[4]
In 1950, Walter was living with his daughter Beatrice and her family, on Lotus Street, Voorhees, Camden County, New Jersey.
He worked 40 hours the week before the census was taken as a stock clerk for a news company.[10]
He died on 18 December 1972, at 8.30 pm, in Kennedy Memorial Hospital, Stratford, Camden County, New Jersey, of arteriosclerotic heart disease.
He was living at 131 Lotus Avenue, Ashland, New Jersey, with his daughter Beatrice.
He was buried in Mt Moriah, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 23 December2 1972.
The funeral home was CH Iredell, of Haddon Heights, New Jersey.[11][12][13]
