I've only known John Thomas Pass as "Thomas Pass". He is my Direct ancestor (8 generations)'s half brother's son.

I found this information on the Geni World Family Tree which is also free: Thomas Pass (male), birth date Feb. of 1781 in Caswell, NC, USA, death in 1860, fathers name is Nathaniel Pass and mother's names is Alsey McGinnis Pass (born Holloway), wife is Sarah (Elliott) Pass.
