Biography

Thompson was born on 28 Sep 1750 in Stamford, Connecticut. He was the son of Quinton Patch and Mercy Ambler. He passed away in 1828.d.[1]

Thompson was called son in his father, Quinton's, 1810 will.[2]

Thompson born Patch had outs with his brothers and put an R in his name so all children born with the name Partch are his kin ...

Find A Grave says his mother is the other wife of Quinton Patch: Ruth Cartwright Patch Birth 1730 Death 1818 Danbury, Fairfield, Connecticut.

Thompson, is the eldest son of Quinton Patch. he married his cousin Mary Lockwood in the Congregational Church in Danbury, CT. In October of 1796 Thompson moved his family to Hinesburgh, VT. Sometime between 1810 and 1820 Thompson and his seven surviving sons changed name to PARTCH. The reason for the change is not definitely known. One story refers to a quarrel among the brothers. Another to an English in which the name was spelled differently. No matter the reason, the change was made by that branch of the family.
