Biography

Honor (Honour) Pate Gibson was the daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth Lamb Pate. She was born on December 22, 1812 in North Carolina. She was the wife of Nathaniel P Gibson, Sr of Richmond County, North Carolina.

In the 1850 US Census, Honor shows living with her husband, Nathaniel and their ten children in Wolf Pit, Richmond County, North Carolina. Honor is about 38 years old and her husband is 44. Her oldest child, Stephen is 20 years old and her youngest child, Honor is 2 years old.

The 1860 US Census shows Honor as being 48 years old and living with her husband and family in Williamson, Richmond County, North Carolina. During this time, the only children living with her are Polly, Frances, Nathaniel Jr., Hannah and Honor.

The 1870 US Census shows a major change in Honor's family life. While Honor was still living in Richmond County, North Carolina, she was not living in the same household as her husband. Instead, Honor was living with her daughters, Fannie, Hannah, Honor and a 3 year old child named Daniel, who I presume was her grandson. At this time, Honor was about 58 years old.

By 1880 she's living in Adamsville, Marlboro County, South Carolina with her children Hannah, Daniel and her granddaughter, Leonora.

Honor Pate Gibson passed away on July 7, 1889, at the age of 76. She in interred at Beaver Dam Cemetery in McColl, South Carolina in Marlboro County.
